Terms and Conditions
Here is where you'll find all the exciting parts about riding a motorcycle. We are sure you'll enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed writing them...
- Your Driving Licence:Training is regulated by the Driving Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and you are required, by law, to present your current valid UK photocard licence for verification. You must have this present for all training sessions. You cannot train without a valid UK photocard licence. Your licence is your responsibility and Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd do not accept any liability for incorrect provision.
- Driving Licence Summary:You must present, for all training, a valid copy of your driving licence summary. This enables us to check your licence validity and provisional entitlements. Your licence codes must match exactly.
- Full licence training:If you are training with us using a CBT gained previously, either with us or elsewhere, then you must bring the original with you for inspection. This must be in date, correctly completed and match your licence number. Please bring your CBT certificate to all training sessions and to present for tests. Training will not take place without it.
- European Union and other foreign licence holders:Although you are allowed to drive in the UK for up to 12months on a non-UK licence. You must have a UK licence to take any further training or testing.
- Payments: Any outstanding balance is due no later than 4 weeks prior to your course start date. Failure to settle any outstanding balance, no later than 4 weeks prior to you course start date will result in your course being cancelled and your deposit forfeited. It is not possible to change or cancel your booked course any later than 72 hours for a CBT course and 31 days for a full license (A1, A2 and A) prior to your course start date due to DVSA exams needing to be booked and named in advance.
- Course duration advice: We provide guideline courses suitable for an average customer you may need to purchase additional training to complete safely.
- Customer responsibility: Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd provides training and assessments. No certificates or test passes are granted for attendance alone. Customers must take sufficient training suitable for their needs to demonstrate safe and competent control to pass their course or test.
- Language: Courses are conducted in English and communication systems will be used on the road. You must have a good command of English and be able to hear and act upon instructions given over a radio earpiece. If you think this may be an issue please book a 1 hour lesson before committing to a full course.
- Your Health: You need to satisfy yourself that you are physically/mentally fit to be able to learn to ride and be capable of undertaking training. You will need to already able to safely ride a pedal cycle. We cannot refund if you are unable to complete, or fully attend, your training sessions. Your instructor will not allow you to ride or learn if you are unable to safely participate either as an individual or as part of a group. If you think this may be an issue book a 1.5 hour trial lesson.
- Personal safety:If at any time a student shows an unsuitable attitude, is considered under the influence of drugs/alcohol, or demonstrates unacceptable risk taking or failure to comply with instruction that endangers themselves or others on the road, or if an instructor, member of staff or any third party be subject to assault, abuse, swearing or threatening behaviour - the course will be terminated at that point and all course fees forfeited. The instructor, as a licensed DVSA assessor, has the final decision in this matter.
- Attendance: You must attend all scheduled training in full and on time. The CBT course has a set legal structure that requires full, on time, attendance without exception. Late attendance on any session or without the appropriate documentation will result in your training being cancelled and 100% of the course fees forfeited.
- Check booking details:It is the customers responsibility to review and check their course dates/details and any amendments that may be made. For the duration of their training, the customer will allow suitable channels of communication should it be necessary to advise them of changes to their training or to verify information that is needed for them to take a test or attend a training session. When a customer makes a booking, or has an amendment to their course, it is their responsibility to note and verify that event.
- Motorcycle Theory Test:It is not legally required for CBT training but is legally required for you to take Module 1 and 2 motorcycle tests. You can book your motorcycle theory test at https://www.gov.uk/book-theory-test. Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd require you to have passed a motorcycle theory test at least 14days/2weeks before your course starts. When passed, you must bring your theory test pass certificate to all training and test sessions.
- Highway Code:You must have learned/read and have a good understanding of the highway code prior to training. You will be riding on the road. Should you not demonstrate a satisfactory knowledge of the road and where/how to give way your training will be terminated. No refund will be issued.
- Eyesight: You must be able to read a number plate from 20.5 metres. If you require glasses or contact lenses to do this then you must wear them for the duration of your training.
- Insurance: Standard insurance cover on our loan motorcycles includes a £1000 policy excess. You are liable for the first £1000 worth of damage to your loaned motorcycle, any equipment, property or any third party.
- Sizing:If you require equipment or vehicles that may be out of regular sizes then you are required to make an appointment with us to check availability and suitability prior to booking. It is the customers responsibility to assess if they may require a low/tall seat height or extra-large/small clothing prior to booking and attendance. Please use the Contact Form our website.
- Time gaps allowed on courses: To ensure pupil and instructor safety the maximum gap between training sessions is 4 weeks/28 days. After such time you will be required to take at standard charge, additional training sessions to bring you back up to a safe standard.
- Own Motorcycle: If you are using your own machine you must bring proof of insurance, MOT certificate (if required), and current road tax to each training session. The motorcycle must also be in a proper roadworthy condition and comply with all legal requirements.
- Individual Risk:Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd will take all steps to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable course. However, riding a motorcycle on or off road carries a degree of risk of injury or even fatality and customers are asked to act responsibly and safely. Participation in all course are done so at your own risk. Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd and our instructors cannot accept liability, or be subject to any claim, for any injury or accident you may suffer whilst riding independently or accompanied. Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd cannot be held liable for loss of earnings or damage to your own clothing whilst training with us. Personal possessions are brought to the training centre at your own risk as we are unable to accept any responsibility for these items.
- Licence and document details: The customer is required to provide their licence number and theory test details to us in sufficient time to allow tests to be confirmed as booked in their name. The customer agrees that Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd has full permission to share their details with the DVSA including; driving licence number, theory test number and email address for the purpose of purchasing motorcycle tests.
- Clothing:We would strongly recommend attending with you own helmet and clothing. A helmet, jacket and gloves will be required along with appropriate sturdy bottoms (jeans or heavy cotton work trousers) without rips or fraying, and sturdy footwear, for example, boots that cover the ankle and allow easy use of the foot controls if selecting a manual motorcycle. There is no protection offered by tracksuit bottoms, shorts or trainers and you will be refused training and tests if your clothing or footwear is deemed unsuitable by instructors or examiners. No refund for missed training or tests will be given. Should you need to use our kit for your course, this will be provided free of charge. You will be liable for any damage caused. Our kit is limited to a helmet, jacket, and gloves only. We cannot supply trousers or boots.
- Cancellations and rescheduling:Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd require sufficient notice to cancel or reschedule training courses or elements of a course. Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd accepts no responsibility for moving dates for CBT or individual lessons. For CBT and trial lessons this responsibility relies solely with the customer and the date alteration must be made via the student login area of the website. For full licence courses notice to reschedule must be given directly to Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd via email. Notice of cancelation MUST be given via email to info@ride-wsm.com Cancellation/date alterations must be made no later than 31 days prior to the course start date. Failure to give 31 days notice will result in an invoice for 100% of the course fee.
- 48hrCooling off period: You may receive a full refund within 48hrs of booking, should you not agree to the terms and conditions and wish to cancel, provided notice is received via email and your training does not start within that 48hour period. If training starts within 48hours of booking, no refunds will be issued. Refunds can only be returned to the original purchaser/cardholder.
- Refunds:After the 48-hour cooling off period, any refund will be subject to the following terms and charges. No refund will be issued for a course that starts within the relevant cancellation periods as follows: 1.5 hour trial lessons - 24hours/1day. CBT Course - 72hours/3days. Full Licence course - 31days/1 calendar month. All refunds issued after the 48hr cooling off period will be subject to a cancellation charge of the following: £15 per trial lesson/clutch and gear lesson. £50 per CBT, or £25 for a CBT resit course. Full licence courses - 10% of the total course price. Transfer of dates will be possible providing they meet the minimum date transfer period and an administration charge of £50 may be applied.
- Courses without dates allocated: You are required to take any training without dates allocated within 12 months of the purchase date. Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd cannot carry over training or any courses after this time and you will be required to pay again for any further training.
- Sickness / No fault non-attendance: Should you be ill, injured or suffer any extenuating personal circumstances that precludes you from attending a course you have booked, or, in giving insufficient notice to cancel, you will still be required to pay the fee for the training and no refunds can be offered. Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd will, as a gesture of goodwill, give receipt of your course and confirm non-attendance so you may claim against any insurance you may have. Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd does not provide or offer any insurance for such circumstances.
- Special offers: Some courses may be sold on special offers and have specific terms and conditions stated in the Offer of Sale. These, if so stated, will override terms given here.
- Gift voucher: Refunds are only offered up to 48 hours from date of purchase so long as no dates have been allocated that start within 14 working days. Any refund made must be to the original purchaser/card holder. Customers may use their voucher as part payment against courses of a higher value. Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue and are sold on the condition that they are non-refundable and are to be used to take training only within the valid dates. Please refer to your voucher for the specific additional terms and conditions.
- Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd / DVSA cancellation or rescheduling of courses/tests: Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd and the DVSA reserve the right to alter course and test dates/times without notice. If a training date or test must be rescheduled due to adverse weather conditions, or any extenuating circumstances, it will be rescheduled for the next available date. Refunds or compensation cannot be given for dates that require rescheduling, regardless of circumstance.
- Additional charges for DVSA Examiner test cancellations: If a test is cancelled by the DVSA due to Examiner equipment failure, their illness, or if the DVSA cancels the test due to weather conditions the customer will need to pay for any time used during the accompanying session to pay for their instructors' time and use of equipment and facility at a rate of £50 per hour.
- Machine/Course selection:It is the customers responsibility to ensure that they book on the most appropriate machine and course for their skill level/abilities. Should you not be sure of this, then you are required to make an appointment with us to check prior to attending. All customers, regardless of the course they book, will be started on the smallest machine we have available on that day. Only when full and proper safe control of this machine is consistently demonstrated will a move up to a larger machine be considered. Your instructor on the day will have the full and final decision on this.
Refund Policy
We know that sometimes things just don't work out the way we planned them...
- It is the students responsibility to ensure they bring their physical license and license summary for their CBT. If the student arrives on the morning of their course without this information training will not be permitted to continue and the entire fee will be forfeited.
- A1, A2 and A license candidates will need to bring their license, summary, valid CBT certificate and theory test pass certificate with them on each day of training. This is ever more important on test day and must be the original documents as the DVSA will not accept copies. Fees, including test fees, will be forfeited if a student fails to arrive with the required documentation.
- Bookings will only be confirmed when payment is received, in full, at the end of the booking process.
- You are able to change the date of your CBT course up until 72 hours prior the start time of your course. Any cancellations within this period will incur a £50 administration charge for a CBT course, £25 for a CBT resit course and £15 for any of our hourly sessions. Course amendments for CBT and hourly lessons are possible through the student login portal.
- Students will be entitled to a full refund who endure a death of an immediate family member within the 72 hour cancellation period. Evidence will need to be provided, but will not be necessary immediately. On production of the evidence the funds will be refunded in its entirety. Alternatively, Ride Motorcycle Training Ltd would be happy to offer the student a credit note which they would be able to redeem against another course and this will remain valid for 12 months.
- Each student is entitled to a 48 hour cooling off period. A full refund will be issued should the student cancel within the cooling off period and this is more than 72 hours ahead of the course commencement time. Any courses booked within the
- Any student arriving late for their course will not be allowed to train on that day and this will result in losing the entire course fee. We recommend all students arrive at least 15 minutes early for their courses.
- Any student who is unable to demonstrate a level of English to at least a conversational standard, will not be permitted to train as a matter of safety. If the instructor deems your level of English as inadequate, you will forfeit the entire course fee.
